The Soil Leadership Academy (SLA) is a special initiative of the UNCCD. It is an innovative, public-private partnership. It aims to energize and support public
Many organizations already offer the resources and knowledge products to help decision-makers plan for LDN. However, it can be difficult to find these tools, and work out which is best for an individual context.
SLA has brought these capacity-building resources together through a partnership network. SLA thus acts as a connecting platform between decision-makers and the resources they need.
SLA further offers simulation workshops. These workshops walk decision-makers through the range of resources available, guiding them to the tools that best fit their country or business needs.
These workshops take into account decision-makers' priorities beyond productive and healthy land. Achieving LDN can create co-benefits, like increasing employment, reducing environmental migration and boosting food and water security. The workshops show how LDN can be an effective strategy for reaching national or corporate priorities.
The SLA workshop program was launched in 2015 at the UNCCD's 12th Conference of the Parties, Ankara, Turkey.
