European Land Stewardship Week offers chance to connect with nature

(25/9/2012)  The UNCCD welcomes the initiative of European Land Stewardship Week, taking place across Europe from September 28 to October 7.

The week offers a full calendar of events encouraging people to enjoy nature as well as care for the Earth’s natural, cultural and landscape resources.

More than 170 organizations from 20 different countries around Europe are organizing a wide variety of activities geared toward the general public.

The European Land Stewardship Week is an initiative of the LandLife Project backed by five European organizations: XCT, the Catalan land stewardship network, Conservatoire des Espaces Naturels du Languedoc-Roussillon, Legambiente, Eurosite and Prysma.

As part of the week, the public is invited to take part in the Connect with Nature photo campaign. This campaign encourages people to share pictures of pleasure of nature through pictures. These photos can be uploaded on the website or posted via Twitter using the #connectnature hashtag. The highest-rated pictures will be part of a European traveling exhibition.
