Losing Ground (documentary)

Subsistence farmers in Sub-Saharan Africa are among the populations most affected by desertification, land degradation and water stress. Beiga village in Burkina Faso is home to many families that suffer such constantly aggravating conditions. This documentary shows the global nature of this phenomenon, with man-made deserts overrunning fertile land. How these processes take place and are linked to outcomes for the economic prosperity and livelihood of future generations is explained by UNCCD’s Executive Secretary Luc Gnacadja and José Luís Rubio, President of the European Society for Soil Conservation.
