Spanish hoteliers can now give their buildings an energy-efficient revamp with the help of an online tool calculating their needs, costs and investment returns.
The online tool was developed by the United Nations World Tourism Organisation and is co-funded with the help of the European Agency for Competitiveness and Innovation (EACI), a body which is responsible for action in the fields of energy, entrepreneurship and innovation on behalf of the European Commission.
The Hotel Energy Solutions (HES) E-toolkit, which is already in place in France, Germany and Bulgaria, will evaluate the most optimal energy-saving solutions for Spanish hoteliers based on previous specific inputs by other hotel owners.
"Thousands of hoteliers have already accessed the English version of this free tool, saving money and mitigating their environmental impact,” said UNWTO Secretary-General, Taleb Rifai, speaking on 27 September in Madrid, Spain, on occasion of the 'World Tourism Day 2012'.
