25-29 August 2014: Africa Drylands Week
The Second Africa Drylands Week took place in N'Djamena, Chad, last month. Participants focused on the role of sustainable land management in the context of Africa's Year of Agriculture and Food Security.

event was co-hosted by the Government of Chad, the African Union
institutions, UNCCD secretariat, Global Mechanism of the UNCCD, Food and
Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, United Nations
Environmet Programme, Economic Commision of West African States,
Permanent Interstate Committee on the Control of Drought in the Sahel
(CILSS) and World Agroforestry Organization. The First Africa Drylands Week
was held on 10-17 June 2011 in Dakar, Senegal.
16-18 July 2014: Second Meeting - Intergovernmental Work Group on the follow-up to the UN Conference on Sustainable Development
The Second Meeting of the Working Group will take place in Beijing, China. The UNCCD IWG is developing the concept ofland degradation neutrality
and options for its implementation.
