‘Land Belongs to the Future, Let’s Climate Proof It’ is the slogan for the 2014 World Day to Combat Desertification (WDCD).

The theme for the day is ecoystem-based adaptation, with events and activities to focus on the benefits of mainstreaming sustainable land management policies and practices into our collective response to climate change.

COP11 - Eleventh Session of the Conference of the Parties: 16-27 Sept. 2013

COP11 took place in Windhoek, Namibia, from 16-27 September 2013, with significant breakthroughs. The draft decisions adopted have been uploaded on the UNCCD COP11 page.

UN Decade for Deserts and the Fight against Desertification

The United Nations General Assembly declared that the United Nations Decade for Deserts and the Fight Against Desertification will run from January 2010 to December 2020. The decade is an awareness-raising initiative to promote action that will protect the drylands.
