If you have a genuine interest in increasing or sharing your knowledge related to organic growing, country living or ecologically sound lifestyles this could be a great opportunity for you to support local organic agriculture projects around the world!
World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms (WWOOF) is an organization linking volunteers with organic farmers and growers around the globe. It helps people sharing more sustainable ways of living, by bringing more and more people into direct contact with organic growers. Volunteers live as part of the family and do not pay for their stay. In return for volunteer help, hosts offer food, accommodation and opportunities to learn about organic agriculture!
Join WWOOF as a volunteer or as a host. If you would like to volunteer and support a local farmer with day to day activities, such as sowing seed, making compost, planting, harvesting, etc., you can start choosing your destination and joining the relevant WWOOF organization. As a member you will be able to access a database of organic farms in your chosen country and start making plans. If you have a farm, smallholding, garden, allotment, vineyard or woodland and follow organic or sustainability principles, you might consider opening your home to volunteers (or WWOOFers) who can provide an extra pair of hands to help with various projects you are busy with!
