Statistics and Climate Change in Africa (Self-Study)

The course has seven different learning modules. They provide you with sound, reliable and efficient information systems to monitor the state and change of the global climate and the impact of responses undertaken by the international community to meet the objectives and targets of a more sustainable development.  After looking at what climate actually is, participants learn about greenhouse gasses and their effect on the earth’s carbon cycle. Next, they get an understanding of indicator sets as well as mitigation and adaptation measures. Then, climate change scenarios are modelled with a focus on impacts in Africa. International institutions and reporting formats are the next step, followed by disaster statistics and tools for disaster prevention. Last, participants learn about integrated environmental-economic accounts and how to use these to monitor climate change.
