Soil Health: Farming in the 21st Century

Participate to receive a close-up view of the slake test and miniature rainfall simulator demonstrations using soils from the same series, but, importantly, under different management. Watch how organic glues hold the no-till soil together and create structure that allows infiltration, while the conventional till soil, with little organic matter, falls apart and ponds water. The presentation continues with a focus on partnership and grass roots efforts to promote soil health and concludes with a discussion of the four soil health planning principles: manage more by disturbing the soil less; diversify with crop diversity; grow living roots throughout the year; and keep the soil covered as much as possible.
