EcoSummit 2016 - Ecological Sustainability: Engineering Change
EcoSummit 2016 will centered on the ecology of terrestrial ecosystems and all habitats that are integrated within those ecosystems, including river networks, wetlands and coastlines. Focus will be placed on fragile ecosystems that are more likely to suffer the consequences of climate change and anthropogenic pressure. Proposals should be submitted by 31 July 2015.

21st session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC)
The 21st session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), or COP21, will be held from November the 30th to December the 11th, 2015 on the Paris-Le Bourget site, bringing together around 40,000 participants in total - delegates representing each country, observers, and civil society members.
The aim is to reach, for the first time, a universal, legally binding agreement that will enable us to combat climate change effectively and boost the transition towards resilient, low-carbon societies and economies.

Russian conference with international participation "Current problems of hydrogeology, engineering geology and hydrogeoecology eurasia" [Russian, English]
The conference will address theoretical and practical issues in the following areas: Theoretical basis of hydrogeology, engineering geology and Hydrogeoecology; the geological evolution of the water - rock; hydrogeology and Engineering Geology cities; natural water resources and their use; geoecology and environmental protection; engineering geodynamics; methods for geotechnical studies; geochemistry of natural waters; hydrogeochemical search for ore and oil and gas fields; and hazardous natural and man-made processes and phenomena. Participatory and Integrative Approaches in Researching African Environments
This conference will bring together scholars from various disciplines and domains from natural and social sciences dealing with African environments as well as institution-building processes. The conference will be opened by a keynote address given by a renowned international expert in the field who will spend the day with the conference participants. Papers will be given by selected participants. An interactive podium will subsequently discuss the individual contributions and the keynote in view of the above questions.

12th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) - COP12
Turkey and the UN Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) have signed a Host Country Agreement for the 12th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 12) to the UNCCD.
The outcomes of COP 12 are expected to contribute to sustainable development and to help advance progress on a new climate agreement by ensuring land use practices’ contribution to climate change mitigation and adaptation.

The 2nd Africa Food Security and Adaptation conference (AFSAC2) will take place on July 30-31, 2015 with theme: Africa’s Soil the New Frontier: Re-imagining Africa Food Security Now and into the Future under a Changing Climate.
The key objectives of the conference are:
• To identify scalable and inclusive business models for ecosystem based adaptation (EBA) driven agriculture that can create opportunities in the entire agricultural value chain

• To discuss what needs to be done to incentivize private sector involvement in EBA-driven agriculture to bring in capital and enhance competitiveness.

The World Day to Combat Desertification (WDCD) is observed worldwide on 17th of June every year. This year the focus is on “attainment of food security for all through sustainable food systems.”
As part of the celebration, the Capacity Building Marketplace of the UNCCD is organizing a panel discussion on the theme “The UNCCD Capacity Building Marketplace: Unlocking the full potential of future professionals”.
The Panel discussion will take place at the United Nations Campus (conference room 1916) on June 17th 2015, from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM.
Students and young professionals in and around Bonn, Germany are invited to attend this panel discussion where they will inter alia get valuable information on how they can utilize the UNCCD Capacity Building Marketplace to advance their career be this in research and/or some other in the field of sustainable development.

What’s for lunch today? Costs and impacts of food production
As part of the celebrations of the World Day to Combat Desertification, the Capacity Building Marketplace of the UNCCD is organizing an exhibition with the theme: “What is for Lunch Today? The True Cost and Impact of Food Production”.
This exhibition will present the ecological and environmental costs of food production, using visual demonstrations and interactive displays to initiate the debate about the true cost of food production.
The exhibition will take place at Mensa Nassestraße (Nassestraße 11, 53113 Bonn, Germany) on the 15th and 16th of June from 11:30 to 14:30.

Eurasian Regional Soil Partnership Workshop (IYS 2015)
This is one of a series of Regional Soil Partnership Workshops being convened as part of activities to commemorate the International Year of Soils (IYS) 2015, under the auspices of the Global Soil Partnership (GSP). One of the objectives of the workshops is to consolidate collaboration among Focal Points to the GSP.
