2nd Africa Food Security & Adaptation Conference


The 2nd Africa Food Security and Adaptation conference (AFSAC2) will take place on July 30-31, 2015 with theme: Africa’s Soil the New Frontier: Re-imagining Africa Food Security Now and into the Future under a Changing Climate.
The key objectives of the conference are:
• To identify scalable and inclusive business models for ecosystem based adaptation (EBA) driven agriculture that can create opportunities in the entire agricultural value chain
• To identify scalable innovative financing models for EBA driven agriculture that when implemented could stimulate growth, job creation and value chain partnership in Africa
• To understand the  benefits of EBA for job creation and the achievement of the proposed SDGs and what Africa will lose as a continent if EBA is ignored or given little support;
• To identify enabling policies and legislation that will incentivize countries to invest in agriculture, soil conservation and EBA;
• To discuss what needs to be done to incentivize private sector involvement in EBA-driven agriculture to bring in capital and enhance competitiveness.

UNCCD 3rd scientific conference


The UNCCD 3rd scientific conference “Combating desertification, land degradation and drought for poverty reduction and sustainable development – the contribution of science, technology, traditional knowledge and practices” (decision 18/COP.10) will take place at the fourth special session of the Committee on Science and Technology (CST S-4) from 9 to 12 March 2015 in Mexico.

The conference aims to attract the widest possible range of scientific, local and traditional knowledge that can be harnessed to achieve poverty reduction and sustainable development in areas susceptible to desertification, land degradation and drought.

#NYFAED15 - National Youth Forum on Agro-based Entrepreneurship Development 2015


The Multifarious Consultancy and Research Centre (MCRC) in Kathmandu, Nepal, is running a three-day conference on youth involvement in agriculture-based development in Nepal. The goal of the National Youth Forum on Agro-based Entrepreneurship Development (#NYFAED15) is to reunite young professionals in the spheres of sustainable land management and agriculture productivity, revive this sector and increase the number of youth involved.

The conference is targeted at Nepalese young professionals (18-40 years old) in the fields of Agriculture, Veterinary, Forestry, Environment Science, Business Administration/ Studies, Sociology and Rural Development Studies. The application deadline is December 25th, 2014.
