EcoSummit 2016 - Ecological Sustainability: Engineering Change


EcoSummit 2016 will centered on the ecology of terrestrial ecosystems and all habitats that are integrated within those ecosystems, including river networks, wetlands and coastlines. 21st session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC)


The 21st session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), or COP21, will be held from November the 30th to December the 11th, 2015 on the Paris-Le Bourget site, bringing together around 40,000 participants in total - delegates representing each country, observers, and civil society members.
The aim is to reach, for the first time, a universal, legally binding agreement that will enable us to combat climate change effectively and boost the transition towards resilient, low-carbon societies and economies.

12th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) - COP12


Turkey and the UN Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) have signed a Host Country Agreement for the 12th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 12) to the UNCCD.
The outcomes of COP 12 are expected to contribute to sustainable development and to help advance progress on a new climate agreement by ensuring land use practices’ contribution to climate change mitigation and adaptation.

2nd Africa Food Security & Adaptation Conference


The 2nd Africa Food Security and Adaptation conference (AFSAC2) will take place on July 30-31, 2015 with theme: Africa’s Soil the New Frontier: Re-imagining Africa Food Security Now and into the Future under a Changing Climate.

Seventeenth RRI Dialogue on Forests, Governance, and Climate Change


Held on the theme, ‘forest tenure, restoration, and green growth' the dialogue, hosted by the Rights and Resources Initiative (RRI), will explore forest governance and tenure reform as an important element in forest landscape restoration. The World Day to Combat Desertification (WDCD) is observed worldwide on 17th of June every year.  This year the focus is on “attainment of food security for all through sustainable food systems.”
As part of the celebration, the Capacity Building Marketplace of the UNCCD is organizing a panel discussion on the theme “The UNCCD Capacity Building Marketplace: Unlocking the full potential of future professionals”.
The Panel discussion will take place at the United Nations Campus (conference room 1916) on June 17th 2015, from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM.
Students and young professionals in and around Bonn, Germany are invited to attend this panel discussion where they will inter alia get valuable information on how they can utilize the UNCCD Capacity Building Marketplace to advance their career be this in research and/or some other in the field of sustainable development.

The topics of discussion at this panel discussion are;
1. UNCCD and the role of capacity building in successful implementation of the Convention

What’s for lunch today? Costs and impacts of food production


As part of the celebrations of the World Day to Combat Desertification, the Capacity Building Marketplace of the UNCCD is organizing an exhibition with the theme: “What is for Lunch Today? The True Cost and Impact of Food Production”.
This exhibition will present the ecological and environmental costs of food production, using visual demonstrations and interactive displays to initiate the debate about the true cost of food production.

Eurasian Regional Soil Partnership Workshop (IYS 2015)


This is one of a series of Regional Soil Partnership Workshops being convened as part of activities to commemorate the International Year of Soils (IYS) 2015, under the auspices of the Global Soil Partnership (GSP).
