This new report presents the findings from Garissa County, in the arid and semi-arid lands of Northern Kenya. The report explores the impact of climate change on the lives of pastoralist and agro-pastoralist communities and their inherent and growing capacity to adapt to the changes and uncertainties they are facing. The document draws its information from two case studies which focus on a series of participatory vulnerability and capacity (CVCA) and gender studies conducted in 2011 and 2012 by ALP, as well as from ongoing adaptation work with six communities. It presents some useful information to support the case for more investment in and support for Community Based Adaptation and adaptive capacity building, as a contribution towards more resilient livelihoods and development.
