Ph.D. fellowship at ZEF on the topic of afforestation for rehabilitation of degraded land in Sudano-Sahelian zone of northern Benin


Center for Development Research (ZEF) is looking for a candidate to conduct a Ph.D. study on afforestation within the framework of West African Science Service Center on Climate Change and Adapted Land Use. The study will focus on silvicultural aspects of establishing tree plantations on marginal, nutrient-depleted and eroded soil. The data from field trials should be used for setting up a process-based model for further simulation analyses. The Ph.D. candidate is expected to collaborate with colleagues from other WASCAL studies on plant growth and nutrient cycling. The fellowship will provide a stipend and research funds to pursue this doctoral study.
