Xeniya Mironova, MA in Human Rights

Xeniya has five years of experience in the non-profit sector. She holds a Master of Arts in Linguistics and Intercultural Communication from the Russian–Tajik (Slavic) University of Dushanbe. Currently she studies MA in Human Rights and Democratization at the Belarusian State University, Belarus and works as a distant intern for the Foundations for Freedom, Ukraine. She is a Caux Scholar, 2013. She began her work in the social sector as an interpreter and translator for the EU project “DVV-International” (Institut für Internationale Zusammenarbeit des Deutschen Volkshochschul-Verbandes). The project was implemented in the sphere of vocational education and training. She then worked as an English teacher at the Russian-Tajik (Slavic) University and at the University of Central Asia. Later she received financing from the Theodor Heuss Kolleg Foundation and conducted a project focusing on orphans in Dushanbe. This experience allowed her to engage with the civil society development process, understand the current situation of orphans in Tajikistan, the impact and influence of the government on their education and social status, and share her experience in the sphere of education and self-development. The experience also helped Xeniya to become a Program Assistant at the Eurasia Foundation of Central Asia – Tajikistan. She supports the program “Equal before the Law: Access to Justice in Central Asia”, which is designed to increase access to justice for vulnerable populations in Central Asia, in particular, rural women, at-risk children, and people with disabilities.
