D. Lucy Avilés Irahola, Agricultural Engineer with Ph.D. in Development Studies

EDUCATION: Agricultural Engineer, Msc. in Human Ecology, Ph.D. in Development Studies and specialization in gender issues. EXPERIENCE: Consultant for national and international organizations such as the UNCCD, UNIDO, World Bank Programmes in Bolivia, Peru, Colombia, Ecuador, Belgium, Austria and Germany. Main achievements included mainstreaming gender and social participation in product value-chains and rural development programs. Experience as program manager for a Bolivian national program on women's rights. Main tasks included: contribute to baseline studies with natural resource, gender and social indicators; to collect information through surveys, interviews and documentation review; to elaborate organizational strategies and; to provide training to personnel and local stakeholders. Additionally, my capacity to conduct literature research, to analyze and synthesize information, and to present consistent reports are proved through the documents I elaborated with CIAT, Papa Andina Initiative, United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification, and the Disaster Risk Reduction Program, among others.
