The Nexus Between Biodiversity and Desertification
Land Day 3 took place on Saturday, 23 October 2010, in a parallel meeting with the tenth session of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD COP 10), held in Nagoya, Japan, from 18-29 October. Government delegates, representatives of intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations, as well as academic institutions, business and research organizations, among others, attended Land Day 3.
The event was a joint initiative of the secretariats of the CBD and the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD), and was part of the Rio Conventions Ecosystem and Climate Change Pavilion. The Deutsche Gesellschaft fur Technische Zusammenarbeit (GTZ), Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ - Germany) and the Arid Land Research Center of Tottori University (ALRC) co-sponsored the event and its panel sessions.
