“Advocacy, awareness raising and education” are one of the main pillars of the 10-Year Strategy, which aims to drive the UNCCD “to actively influence relevant international, national and local processes and actors in adequately addressing desertification/land degradation and drought-related issues. (Operational objective 1)”. Through various events and campaigns, the UNCCD secretariat raises awareness about the importance of sustainable land management and combatting desertification, land degradation and mitigating the effects of drought.
