Reporting review and assessment: Impact indicators

As compared to the previous cycle (2010-2011), in 2012-2013 Parties and other reporting entities, in addition to performance indicators, best practices and financial flows, would have to report on new and additional elements, including on:

  • Impact indicators for strategic objectives 1, 2 and 3 of the Strategy: this applies to affected country Parties only;
  • Impact indicators for strategic objective 4 of the Strategy: this applies to all Parties and other reporting entities.

Reporting on impact indicators for strategic objectives 1, 2 and 3 of the Strategy

In 2012-2013, affected country Parties have been requested to compile information on the two compulsory impact indicators (proportion of the population in affected areas living above the poverty line and land cover status), while information on the remaining impact indicators for SO 1-3 can be provided on a voluntary basis.

In order to enable affected country Parties to report on the two compulsory impact indicators, the secretariat prepared draft reporting tools including: dedicated reporting templates, a reporting manual, to provide additional guidance on gathering information and answering questions emerging from the reporting templates, as well as a revised glossary of terms and definitions.

As per decision 19/COP.9, the draft reporting templates on the two mandatory impact indicators tabled at COP 10 were revised based on the conclusions and recommendations stemming from the pilot impact-indicator tracking exercise. The revised reporting template also include a sub-section for  reporting on the remaining impact indicators for SO 1-3 that can be provided on a voluntary basis.
