Work ExperienceENEA researcher since 1993. Head of the “combating desertification” unit since the beginning of 2002. University lecturer in soil conservation and management. his main field of interest is the application of new technologies to the evaluation and monitoring of natural resources, with special reference to desertification. He is involved in many national (RIADE) and international research programmes (desert watch) as ENEA coordinator or scientific responsible and some EU-funded programmes (desert net, Lucinda, image). Such projects involve collaboration with universities, other public research institutes and private companies. Studies and research activities on crops adaptation to the Mediterranean soil and climate conditions are in progress in the framework of the UE VII FP project global change biology.
