| Work Experience | Since 1956, I have been engaged in Arid Lands Studies concentrating Water System in Arid Lands. Main topic is Qanat Irrigation System of all over the world and participated or organized several missions of Tokyo University and Meiji University. In parallel with this basic research, I have supported several projects in Egypt (1962-1969), Pakistan (1970), Saudia Arabia (1979), Tunisa (1996) through the Government of Japan or the World Bank. In Japan, I have been member of advisory committee of various instituions, such as JICA, Environment Agency, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries in relation with arid land studies or desertification issues. Outside Japan, I have been a participant in either chair, or expert of UNESCO, UNEP, UNU, O.S.S meetings on desertification issues.
