Work ExperienceMy research area focuses on study of botanical extracts and their diverse effects on important agricultural pests and their natural enemies. Research includes laboratory bioassavs that include application of botanical extracts against different instars of the pest; this will result in either host deterrence or repellency or toxicity of the pest. These bioassavs will be followed by chromatographic analysis for the most bioactive extract(s), for the purpose of determining bioactive chemical component(s) in the extract. The bioactive extract will be tested under field conditions for determining the level of persistence and residual affect of the extract and its components. Further adoption of these components will lead to physiological studies with the extract and the pest and possible synthesis of the bioactive component.
