Work ExperienceInstitutional elements Responsible for working relationship between Leiden University and CEDC in North Cameroon. CEDC is a permanent partnership institution of Leiden and Universite de Dschang. 2003-2005 Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs will fund a position of junior expert at CML focusing on UNCCD and synergy with CBD. Junior expert will focus on developing contacts with institutions working in drylands such as the Free University, University of Amsterdam. CML also houses national focal point for indigenous peoples in the CBD and has close ties with IUCN. Personal Elements Knowledge of dryland countries and dryland problems. 10 years field work in Cameroon. 3 years in Kenya. Also expereince in Benin, Namibia, South Africa and Burkina Faso. Empirical research themes: land use and land use theory, soil degradation, social drivers of land use change, modeling of these social drivers of land use change. Desk research themes: co-management of natural resources, development of onterdisciplinary methods for the analysis, explanantion and solution of environmental problems, synergy of CCD and CBD. Expertise in inter-university cooperation with dryland DAC countries.
