Work Experience1. Lecturing at universities (NUM for 20 years) in vegetation dynamics, restoration ecology and rehabilitation ecology, land degradation and desertification for under and post graduate students (supervisor of more than 30 master And PhD projects). 2. Leader in many research and development projects in South Africa regarding land degradation, desertification and restoration ecology. (18 projects of millions of ZAR) 3. Collaboration with national and international institutes and agencies, especially in Africa (Several countries), Germany, Spain, China and Australia, including GEF, UNEP, ICRIST, etc 4. Consultant regarding the restoration of Arid and Semi Arid rangeland, as well as SLM projects for many agencies, such as UNEP, GEF, South Africa National Parks (SANparks), UNCC in Kuwait, Untied Arab Emirate, Bahrain, South African Environment Observation Network UNCCD,- SA, 5. Referee and member on the editorial staff of many national and international journals.

Awards1. Rated by the national research foundation in South Africa as a c category (C2) researcher which is defined as: an established researcher with a sustained recent record of productivity in his field of expertise and who has been recognized by national and international peers and evaluate as having produced a body of quality work 2. Since 1995, served on roster for independent experts for the UNCCD as appointed by DEAT in SA. 3. Designated by Department of Environmental Affairs and Tourism to be Science and Technology Correspondent for South Africa (CST) for the UNCCD ( Feb 2009). 4. In 2007, selected as one of the top 10% researchers at the North West University.
Other Activities1. Member of the Grassland Society of southern Africa (GSSA) Past president of GSSA) 2. Arid zone ecology forum in SA chair person for 5 yrs 3. Chairman of the Trustees for the GSSSA and long standing member of the board of the GSSA. 4. Professional member of the Southern African Institute of Ecologist and Environmental Scientists (SAIE & ES). 5. Member of the society of Ecological Restoration International (SERI)
