Work ExperienceI have worked as an extensionist & Director of an integrated rural development project (Lesotho 1986 - 89), & Director of the Farmer Support Group of the University of KwaZulu Natal (1990 -98). I undertook extensive innovative SLM activities in rural KZN. My work with EMG involves international and national policy and lobbying work, as well as local level implementation with farmer groups addressing SLM within the context of biodiversity conservation and adaptation to climate change. In addition I have developed curriculum for participatory extension, and have incorporate participatory approaches that are appropriate for addressing the needs of the most vulnerable in remote rural communities, especially women. I have participated in, and co-ordinated multi- and trans-disciplinary research teams. I also have expertise in indigenous and local knowledge systems
