Work ExperienceFor three years, I worked in a program of forestry extension for the Government of Espirito Santo State, Brazil and five years for a Forestry Enterprise in that State, planting Eucalyptus for cellulose (in temperate zone of Brazil). Since 1978, I have been working with forestry research for the Agricltural Research Center for the Semi-Arid Tropic (CPATSA) of Brazilian Agricultural Research Agency (EMPBRAPA) at Petrolina, Brazil with plants for semi-arid regions. The studies include selection of species, plant production, soil preparation, plant spacing, trials for introduction of exotics species, agroforestry systems and other silvicultrual techniques for planting in low rainfall zones and control of desertification. The principal species studied are multipurpose trees of the genera Leucaena, Prosopis, Acacia and native species of Northeastern Brazil.
