Work ExperienceMy main research field is in soil resource management, agroecosystems and sustainable agriculture, with a focus on soil degradation (erosion, fertility decline) and land quality, optimization of cropping and land-use systems in tropical and subtropical China. I have been leader of two "National Five-Year Key Projects", I.e. 8th five-year (1991-1995) and 9th five-year (1996-2000) projects with topics "Degradation Processes and Mechanisms of Red Soils in Southern China" and "Restoration Strategies and Technologies of Degraded Red Soil Ecosystems" respectively. Meanwhile, I h have been in charge fo a sub-project entitled "Spatial Variability and Sustainable Development of Red Soil Resource" of an EC-STD2 project (1991-1994). In this project, I and my european partners (French and German scientists) had jointly conducted a very intensive field investigation (ransect studies) for more than half a year. In addition, I am chairing currently a sub-project entitled "Land quality dynamics in
