Work ExperienceSummarizing the relevant work experiences and lessons for many years in the Loess Plateau, the main experiences are: 1. The prevention and control of desertification, including soil and water conservation, is a public welfare work in the region with difficult circumstances, so everybody who works in this field should be hard-working, unafraid of hardship and be learned to seek support of the leading cadres and the masses of the locality. 2. In order to control soil and water loss it is necessary to "combine the control of slopes with the control of gullies", "combine biological measures with engineering measures", "combine control with exploitation" and "combine ecological benefit with socio-economic benefit". Every measure, method and benefit in the four combinations should be helped forward each other interactively to realize the coordination, balance and seady development of population-resource-environment-economics.
