| Work Experience | Long-term field work experience in the eastern Sahel (Sudan) and in Namibia on the causes and effects of land degradation and desertification. Interdisciplinary and participatory approach in field work with close links to national ministries, NGOs and research institutes in Africa. Cooperation experience with UN agencies, specifically UNCCD.Development of national, regional and global scientific communication networks: Co-founder of DesertNet Germany, European DesertNet and DesertNet International and GNDRI. Coordination of the national scientific biodiversity secretariat (Diversitas Germany) and close cooperation with VERSITAS International. Senior scientific advisor the project management of the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). Member DSD which in close cooperation with CST organized the first scientific UNCCD Conference in Buenos Aires/Argentina in 2009. |
