Hamid Čustović
Hamid Čustović is professor emeritus of the University of Sarajevo. He holds a PhD degree in agriculture and has long term professional experience working in Bosnia and Herzegovina and abroad. His expertise relates to agriculture, soil science, cartography, land consolidation, bonity and spatial planning (agro-ecological and other use of land), climate change-adaptation and mitigation in agriculture, agro-ecological and agro-hydrological research, rural development and rural ecology. He has extensive experience working as a project manager/team leader or consultant/expert in 85 scientific and professional projects, including international scientific and research projects such as FP7, FP6, EU Life, TEMPUS, ERASMUS, EU, FAO, UNDP, and UNEP. He has authored and co-authored 18 books, 111 scientific papers and 51 professional papers/studies/technical reports. He was head of time of EU EEA Project CORINE Land Cover for Bosnia and Herzegovina tree times, 2006, 2012 and 2018.
Hamid was the first Bosnia and Herzegovina Focal Point of the UNCCD, starting in 2004. He has been an active member of the CST and served as a vice-chair in 2014-2015 and the Chair in 2015-2016. He was a co-chair of the Science Policy Interface in 2014-2017. He has been a Bureau member of IPBES since 2019.
He is the founder and has been the Chairman of the Soil Science Society in Bosnia and Herzegovina from 2005 to 2021`; and is a member of the Academy of Sciences and Arts of Bosnia and Herzegovina (ANUBiH).
