The main goal of the thematic workshop dedicated to the International Rural Women´s Day is to provide an opportunity for the participants to engage in a cooperative dialogue and strengthen their capacities through sharing knowledge and best practices on gender-responsive land-related issues for the purpose of sustainable land management.
To reaffirm strong commitment to gender equality, the organizers of the meeting will focus on following objectives:
- Raise awareness of the disproportionate impact of desertification, land degradation and drought on women and girls and the barriers they face in decision-making on land issues
- Highlight women’s contributions to sustainable land management and broader SDGs
- Mobilize global support to advance land rights for women and girls around the world
The UNCCD will present the Gender Action Plan and its associated Road Map, adopted by the Parties with the main goal to make the implementation of the 2018-2030 UNCCD Strategic Framework gender-responsive and transformative, and thus more effective, efficient and successful.
The meeting will bring together varied stakeholders: representatives of different UN organizations (FAO, UNEP, UN Women, UNCCD), farmer federations and associations, CSOs, NGOs, as well as governmental representatives from UNCCD Annex V countries (CEE region).
Attendees will discuss such acute issues as the role of women in decision-making processes on land issues, updates in existing legislation on gender, and girls’ and women’s access to improved knowledge and technologies.
English-Russian Interpretation will be provided. Register here: https://unccd-int.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_BRs2R-jjTdaNRJ3rcK-mkQ#/r…
