Regional negotiations training for Arab countries ahead of COP16

National Focal Points of the Arab League countries are coming together for a negotiation training in preparation for the upcoming COP16 in Saudi Arabia in December 2024, the first to be held in the Middle East region and the largest multilateral conference ever hosted by Saudi Arabia
Organized in partnership with the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development (AOAD) and the Moroccan government, through the National Agency for Water and Forests, the capacity-building session presents an opportunity to sharpen the negotators' skills and deepen the understanding of environmental priorities in the region.
At in the opening ceremony, Ms. Birguy Lamizana, the UNCCD Chief of Global Policy Advocacy and Regional Cooperation, commended, on behalf of the UNCCD Executive Secretary, the tripartite partnership that provided an opportunity for constructive discussions to advance participants' expertise in the negotiations process on the road to Riadh.
