COVID-19 pandemic surfaced clearly the necessity, value and benefits of sustainability in our daily lives which can be enhanced through an effective synergy between climate action, biodiversity protection and land use. 2020 Desertification and Drought Day with its theme Food.Feed.Fibre is an excellent opportunity to connect the efforts on land degradation to the design of a new deal for nature and ambitious climate action where local and regional governments are essential partners for multilevel and collaborative action.
Since their inception from the Earth Summit in 1992, ICLEI acts as the focal point for cities and regions for the processes related to the three Rio Conventions on behalf of Global Task Force of Local and Regional Governments.
