UNCCD CRIC19 to take place on 10-12 February 2021 in Bonn
Bonn, Germany – The nineteenth session of the UNCCD Committee for the Review of the Implementation of the Convention CRIC19 will take place at the World Conference Center Bonn, Germany from 10 to 12 February 2021.
Meetings of country Parties of the Convention’s regional implementation annexes for Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean, Northern Mediterranean and Central and Eastern Europe in preparation for CRIC 19 will convene ahead of the session on 9 February 2021 at the UN Campus Bonn. A training fair for national focal points will take place on 8 February 2021.
CRIC19 will review the effective implementation of the Convention at national, subregional and regional levels including updates on the voluntary land degradation neutrality target setting process, operationalization of the Land Degradation Neutrality Fund and implementation of the Drought Initiative. The Intergovernmental Working Group on effective policy and implementation measures for addressing drought under the UNCCD will present its interim report for consideration by Parties. The information on development and promotion of activities for targeted capacity-building to advance the implementation of the Convention as well as the reporting and review process of the UNCCD will also be reviewed.
A series of interactive dialogues on the key topics on the agenda are expected to provide Parties with ample opportunities to exchange views and share their own experiences in UNCCD implementation.
