Participate
There are diverse categories of participants at the UNCCD conferences: representatives of the Convention's 197 Parties, members of officially accredited observer organizations and representatives of the press and media.
Ahead of the COP, Parties to the Convention and accredited organizations receive an official invitation to attend the conference and nominate their representatives to take part in the COP16. Online registration is available via the following link: https://indico.un.org/e/unccd-cop16.
Observer organizations include the UN and international organizations, the non-government and civil society organization, and business entities. Accredited observers are invited to attend and deliver statements at official meetings and negotiations in the Blue Zone during the COP. Observers need to be accredited to the UNCCD in accordance with these guidelines. You can find the list of accredited organizations here. Please note that the accreditation for the COP16 has already been completed.
In case your Blue Zone event has already been registered, please submit a request for allocation of the meeting rooms in the blue zone, to Mr. Kayhan Ul kul [at] unccd.int (kul[at]unccd[dot]int) and Mr. Mahamadou Tari Bako mbako [at] unccd.int (mbako[at]unccd[dot]int). You can find the map of the Blue Zone here.
The COP16 Green Zone will be open to the public, inviting visitors to explore land-related exhibitions on innovative technologies, networking, restoration efforts and inclusive activities for all segments of society. You can register to attend the Green Zone or host an event via this link.
