The CDROM “2008 Virtual Disaster Risk reduction Library” is a result of partnership between many institutions, CSO, governments, academic, technical experts etc. The section on desertification is the UNCCD Library contribution to this first virtual library version.
It contains key documents and publications in full electronic format and complements the Bibliography on Drought, Desertification and Water scarcity published earlier. It presents a lot of publications and technical documents, public information, fact sheets, films, interviews, audio and video materials related to natural, environmental, technological disasters and related issues.
The overall goal of this initiative is to contribute to the dissemination of information and help in the process of raising awareness on natural disaster management, the knowledge on drought, desertification and water scarcity. The assumption is that knowledge should reach people wherever they are and whatever facilities for access to information they have, usually in countries prone to disasters where connectivity to Internet is slow or not so easily available
