An international "Arid land resource inventories"workshop held at La Paz. Mexico, in late 1980 concentrated on developing cost-efficient inventories for the arid regions of the world. Over 205 participants from 14 countries attended to discuss characteristics of the arid lands, inventory challenges and research needs. Papers were presented on planning techniques, classification systems, remote sensing and mapping, sampling strategies, measurement procedures, and resource analysis.
