The courses provide a concise introduction to the UNCCD process, and the contextual basis for the entire course. The UNCCD E-learning platform and Capacity Building Marketplace provide the opportunity for stakeholders, students, professionals and the public at large to increase and/or offer their knowledge and capacities in support of UNCCD implementation and the sustainable development process as a whole. These products of the Capacity Development and Innovation Office (CDIO) of the UNCCD are great digital gateways to capacity development resources that are aimed at translating acquired knowledge, training, and experience into further practical actions. This e-learning is one such resource.
After taking this e-learning course participants should inter alia have a clear and concise understanding as to:
-The concept of the National Focal Point (NFP);
-The process of their establishment;
-Their core roles, functions and responsibilities;
-Their overall importance in facilitating the effective implementation of the Convention.
The United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) - Capacity Building Marketplace (CBM) links all existing and emerging supply and demand that relate to capacity development for the meaningful implementation of the Convention. The Marketplace does this in many ways, including through developing e-learning courses as well as other capacity building products and processes.
