Desertif'actions is the Civil society International Forum dedicated to land degradation and combating desertification. The forum brought together over 300 stakeholders from over 100 countries from June 10th to 13th 2015 in Montpellier (France).
Civil society organizations, scientists, local government, farmer organizations, private and public institutions… met in Montpellier in order to share their concerns and built common positions on desertification and land degradation under a changing climate and its consequences in northern and southern countries!
Upon the international press cartoons competiiton co-organized by CARI and UNCCD, 80 cartoons of over 44 artists from 20 countries have been received. They have been exhibited during Desertif' actions 2015 and were published during a UN web campaign on land and climate change in the framework of the SDGs.
CARI - organizer of Desertif’actions 2015 - is an International Solidarity non-governmental organization that has been working with rural populations in Sub-Saharan Africa and in North Africa since its creation in 1998. CARI works closely with partners around the world and focuses its action on combating desertification and land degradation.
As well as carrying through on-site hands-on projects and advocacy actions, CARI coordinates several international civil society organization networks: GTD, ReSaD, RADDO and pS-Eau (Mediterranean branch). Patrice Burger of CARI is the Chairperson of the intercontinental Drynet network.
