In the last decades of the 20th century drought and desertification processes have particularly affected temperate climate areas worldwide. Northern Mediterranean countries, who had never faced with these problems, are observing events and states related to loss of land fertility and social consequences which may arise.
This Conference aims to create a dialogue/discourse on such events, strictly related to climate change, which deeply affect worldwide the quality of life. Hence, it seems useful to offer to local Italian stakeholders the European scientific experience, in order to develop projects in the regions aiming to monitor critical environmental pressures and mitigate the effects, to understand in cultural terms causes and likely consequences, to submit them to the policy makers.
