Bonn has succeeded over the past decade to shape for itself a new profile as the German United Nations City and a centre of international dialogue on key issues of the future. A visible symbol of this development is the UN Campus. In order to establish a unified approach for all our libraries at the campus we worked on a model presenting our needs and views. The model has been developed following the existing library standards for spaces and equipment. The library planning should reflect the development of the library in the next 15-20 years. Since libraries are important not only as buildings but as a cultural investment it is crucial that they be planned to respond current and future needs.
