Our goal is to provide the public directly with first-hand information based on the book series Warning Signals. Supported by the positive criticism and good response, so far 15 volumes of the book series »Warnings« have been published. Around 800 environmental and climate-relevant articles were written by about 1,500 experts from nearly 500 research and environmental organizations. The motto was always »inform scientists directly«. This should make a contribution to the broad public discussion in our educational institutions (schools and universities), in the media, among interested lay people, and not least in politics and administration about our dealings with the environment and climate protection. This website is intended to provide a platform with a scientific background for Internet users whose quality is ensured by the collaboration of numerous competent scientists. The plan is to publish climate-relevant articles on the topics of health, hazards for plants and animals, polar regions, water supply and the oceans as well as ice of the earth. The Internet has changed our society. With this medium, many new opportunities have emerged to disseminate information. There are data and facts of various kinds available on the Web that are available anytime, anywhere. In the meantime, we are accustomed to looking for information that we need, above all on the Internet, and to discuss it with colleagues and friends. Everyone also has the option of setting up websites or launching topic-centric units such as blogs and discussion forums. But the problem is the quality of the information. Since the data and facts and publications posted on the internet are mostly unchecked, they can easily lead to confusion and disinformation. The articles on this website, however, were written and reviewed directly by scientists. The initiative is supported by the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety (BMUB)
