Accredited CSO
The UNCCD COP recognizes that the involvement and participation of the civil society is vital to the successful implementation of this Convention. It therefore welcomes the contribution of CSOs, with particular regard to non-governmental organizations (NGOs), to the official meetings of the UNCCD.
Representatives from CSOs that are accredited to the COP may directly participate in the UNCCD secretariat’s sessions. At these sessions CSOs are consulted on United Nation’s policy and programme matters. They also play key roles at major United Nations conferences as indispensable partners for efforts at the country level. Below are the current accredited CSO's to the Convention.
Borneo Nature Foundation works to restore and protect tropical peatland ecosystems through community-led fire management, reforestation, and sustainable land use. Our programmes reduce the threat of catastrophic wildfires, safeguard biodiversity including endangered great apes, and cut carbon emissions. By restoring ecological functions and empowering local communities, we build resilience to climate change and secure long-term ecosystem health.

La Fundación Hora de Obrar desarrolla proyectos sociales y ambientales en Argentina, Uruguay y Paraguay desde el año 2014. Su programa “Crece Selva Misionera” (2020) promueve la reforestación con especies nativas y prácticas agroforestales en el noreste argentino, fortaleciendo la resiliencia al cambio climático de comunidades rurales e indígenas y contribuyendo a la conservación de cuencas hídricas y biodiversidad de la Selva Paranaense.
Regen is an association that promotes the regeneration of ecosystems and territories through ecological management of land, human settlements and crops by the communities that inhabit them. We work with training and design to spread ecological culture, tools, technical knowledge, practical skills and inspiration, sharing knowledge and experience in ecological projects. We regenerate habitats, taking care of their inhabitants. The base of activities is in Palombaio (Bitonto, Bari).

MYCN, through the DaCCA program, builds the resilience of smallholder farmers to climate change impacts, especially drought, by promoting sustainable land management and community-based adaptation. The program empowers farmers with agro ecological skills, tree planting, strengthens community capacities, and supports local authorities and CSOs to integrate adaptation priorities in planning and budgeting, aligning with UNCCD goals of resilience, participation, and sustainable livelihoods.
Lilongwe Wildlife Trust works across three core programme areas: saving wildlife, deterring nature crime, and securing healthy landscapes for people and wildlife. The latter programme incorporates a range of initiatives aimed at improving people’s livelihoods whilst also protecting critical ecosystems and preventing land degradation.
Provita develops science-based conservation actions to avoid land degradation and boost ecosystem restoration. As part of the Mapbiomas and RAISG (Red Amazónica de Información Socio Georeferenciada) networks we monitor land use change and superficial water through satellite imagery and mapping, with a special emphasis in the Venezuelan Amazon region. On the ground, we promote agroforestry of shade crops to halt deforestation while planting native trees to bring back the forest in degraded lands.
Mombasa Hub of the global shapers community advances climate resilience, sustainable land use, and youth-led environmental action in coastal Kenya. Its initiatives focus on ecosystem restoration, community climate education, circular economy practices, and sustainable livelihoods. By empowering young people and local communities, the hub aligns with UNCCD priorities of combating desertification, promoting land restoration, and ensuring sustainable resource management.
Revivarte is a Brazilian non-profit working at the intersection of culture, environment, and community development. Its activities focus on land restoration in the Atlantic Forest, community nurseries, agroforestry, seed collection, training of women and youth, and partnerships with local governments to combat land degradation and promote sustainable livelihoods.
