Global Land Forum
-
Bogota, Colombia
-
12 - 20 June 2025
This year's global observance of the Desertification and Drought Day in Bogota, Colombia, will be part of the Global Land Forum, hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Colombia, CINEP (Center for Research and Popular Education/Peace Program), the European Union and the International Land Coalition.
The Forum will address pressing land governance challenges, including land concentration, territorial rights conflicts and environmental concerns. It aligns with Colombia's "Colombia, potencia mundial de la vida" plan, which emphasizes agrarian reform and peace processes to resolve longstanding land inequality issues. In recognition of the significance of peasant, family, ethnic and community agriculture—which produces 70 per cent of the country's food—2025 has been declared the Year of Peasant, Family, Ethnic and Community Agriculture.
Key events include community visits, Indigenous and Youth Forums on June and a broad range of thematic discussions to foster inclusive dialogue on land rights, promote equitable land distribution and support sustainable rural development policies.
