Accredited CSO
The UNCCD COP recognizes that the involvement and participation of the civil society is vital to the successful implementation of this Convention. It therefore welcomes the contribution of CSOs, with particular regard to non-governmental organizations (NGOs), to the official meetings of the UNCCD.
Representatives from CSOs that are accredited to the COP may directly participate in the UNCCD secretariat’s sessions. At these sessions CSOs are consulted on United Nation’s policy and programme matters. They also play key roles at major United Nations conferences as indispensable partners for efforts at the country level. Below are the current accredited CSO's to the Convention.
Save the Children is a global child rights organization working at the intersection of climate, land, and livelihoods, with a strong focus on the most vulnerable children in low- and middle-income countries. Through Green Climate Fund–financed programmes across multiple countries, we support climate-resilient livelihoods, nature-based solutions, and community-based adaptation that protect children’s rights to health, education, food, and protection.

The Institute advances sustainable land management and climate-resilient livestock systems through science-based innovation and technology transfer. It contributes to combating desertification and land degradation by promoting rangeland restoration, sustainable pasture use, and productivity-led approaches that reduce grazing pressure while strengthening herder livelihoods and ecosystem resilience in Mongolia.
Natural Fish Breeders is a Mongolian nonprofit dedicated to conserving native river fish — taimen, lenok and grayling — and the freshwater habitats they depend on. Because healthy fish populations require healthy rivers, our work directly supports UNCCD goals: we monitor watersheds, restore riparian vegetation, curb riverbank erosion, train herder guardians along more than 480 km of river basin, and use fish as living indicators of land degradation, drought stress and ecosystem recovery.
GerHub is a Mongolian NGO founded in 2016, working with ger-area communities in Ulaanbaatar to advance climate resilience, social innovation, education, and placemaking. Our initiatives include energy transition projects such as “Coal to Solar,” household insulation micro-businesses, and community spaces that reduce air pollution, strengthen livelihoods, and address desertification drivers. We collaborate with local and international partners to scale practical, community-led solutions.
The Women Leaders Fund works in the field of women’s rights and gender issues, and for the past eight years has collaborated with local target groups to reduce the negative impacts of climate change. We continuously organize activities aimed at influencing policy and empowering women from target groups. Our work connects gender with challenges such as desertification, water scarcity, and food security.
Centre for Church-based Development is a resource and network center with 37 members that are civil society organisations in Denmark. CKU Is funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Denmark and extend funding to our members and their partners in the global south. CKU supports 200 projects in 40 countries. CKU primarily works with faith-based organizations and has three strategic priorities: 1) Climate adaptation and restoration, 2) Child protection and 3) Faith-based peacebuilding.
Leadership Development Association International is a youth-led organization focused on sustainable development, climate action, and community resilience. Our work includes awareness campaigns, capacity-building, and youth engagement on land degradation, ecosystem restoration, and sustainable land use, empowering communities to address desertification and promote environmental sustainability.
The “Billion Trees Movement” NGO was established in 2022 to support, promote, and strengthen the “Billion Trees” National Movement initiated by the President of Mongolia. This nationwide initiative reflects Mongolia’s commitment to combating desertification, mitigating climate change, and restoring degraded ecosystems. The organization works to enhance public awareness, encourage community participation, and foster cross-sectoral cooperation.
Our operation mainly focus on capacity building specially on electric sheepshearing sustainable farm management by introducing technology, supporting climate-resilient agriculture, and empowering herder communities. We provide sheep shearing training, connect herders with factories and markets, and introduce smart farming technologies. Through testing and innovation, we enhance rural livelihoods, efficiency, and economic value while restoring ecosystems.”
