UNCCD is partnering with the Government of Qatar and Global Dryland Alliance to convene a global panel of leaders at Expo Doha to foster innovation, knowledge sharing and investments in the horticulture of drylands.

To mitigate the harmful effects of the changing climate on productivity and quality of the horticultural output of the drylands, there is an urgent need to advance adaptation strategies at scale. Unlocking the potential of drylands has the power to elevate the economic status and livelihood security for farmers in arid and semi-arid regions.

The Global Dryland Alliance is an international organization representing dryland countries and is headquartered in Doha, Qatar. Officially formed in October 2017 with a membership of 11 nations, the organization has the stated aim of advancing food security for dryland nations and innovating technologies in the fields of horticulture and water security.
