Accredited CSO
The UNCCD COP recognizes that the involvement and participation of the civil society is vital to the successful implementation of this Convention. It therefore welcomes the contribution of CSOs, with particular regard to non-governmental organizations (NGOs), to the official meetings of the UNCCD.
Representatives from CSOs that are accredited to the COP may directly participate in the UNCCD secretariat’s sessions. At these sessions CSOs are consulted on United Nation’s policy and programme matters. They also play key roles at major United Nations conferences as indispensable partners for efforts at the country level. Below are the current accredited CSO's to the Convention.
The Community Agriculture and Environmental Protection Association (CAEPA) supports the UNCCD process by promoting sustainable land use, climate-smart agriculture, and reforestation. It empowers local communities, especially indigenous groups, through training, water conservation, and land governance education. These activities enhance resilience to drought, improve biodiversity, and reduce land degradation, directly contributing to UNCCD goals
Tautia Youth and Women Initiative has engaged local communities in almost all parts of the country by involving youth, women and other vulnerable groups that are most affected by adverse effects of Climate change Some of the activities include distribution of fruit and tree seedlings to schools and community tree growers, sensitization and awareness campaigns on land restoration, biodiversity conservation, climate smart agriculture practices
The Global Foundation For Climate Change Africa (GFCCA) promotes climate resilience through regenerative agriculture, agroforestry, ecosystem restoration, and community-based carbon projects. GFCCA empowers smallholder farmers, combats land degradation and food insecurity, and supports sustainable land management aligned with the goals of the UNCCD.

As Samofal DDD NGO, we are dedicated to improving the lives of youth and children in Somalia by combating desertification and promoting sustainable livelihoods. Our key aims include preventing deforestation, providing vocational training, and creating job opportunities. Activities We address the issue of tree cutting for coal by offering training programs that equip youth with skills for alternative employment. Our initiatives focus on education and vocational training to empower young people.
OIDA promotes sustainable land management, climate resilience, and restoration of degraded ecosystems in Soroti, Uganda. Its activities include agroforestry, drought risk reduction, wetland rehabilitation, community-based land restoration, and policy advocacy. OIDA empowers smallholder farmers, women, and youth through training, research, and participatory environmental governance.
The Center for Tropical Research (CTR) advances biodiversity conservation, ecosystem restoration, and sustainable land use, core themes of the UNCCD. Through community-based rewilding, agroforestry, and climate-smart land management in degraded tropical landscapes like Cameroon’s Mbalmayo Forest, CTR supports UNCCD goals to combat desertification, enhance resilience, and promote land degradation neutrality.
