Accredited CSO
The UNCCD COP recognizes that the involvement and participation of the civil society is vital to the successful implementation of this Convention. It therefore welcomes the contribution of CSOs, with particular regard to non-governmental organizations (NGOs), to the official meetings of the UNCCD.
Representatives from CSOs that are accredited to the COP may directly participate in the UNCCD secretariat’s sessions. At these sessions CSOs are consulted on United Nation’s policy and programme matters. They also play key roles at major United Nations conferences as indispensable partners for efforts at the country level. Below are the current accredited CSO's to the Convention.
Shalom Integrate Community Development Organization operates in areas where the natural landscape is mountainous and rugged, and where the land has been degraded due to land degradation. In order to restore the degraded areas to their original state, the local community buys and donates trees to the community to protect them and to provide awareness education to the community that cutting down trees causes land degradation. Muumoza Youth Organization is a youth-led NGO in Malawi working to combat land degradation and desertification through community-driven land restoration, climate-smart agriculture, and sustainable natural resource management. We empower youth and women with training and practical activities to enhance ecosystem resilience, improve livelihoods, and promote sustainable land governance aligned with UNCCD goals.
Sekakoh works to combat land degradation and biodiversity loss through community-led agroforestry, reforestation, sustainable livelihoods, and environmental education. Our activities support land restoration, promote food security, empower women and youth, and strengthen local governance directly contributing to the UNCCD’s goals of achieving Land Degradation Neutrality and sustainable land management.
VAADD implements programs such as ACERA, VAADD AGRI, OSEK POWER, and Young Green Girls to empower communities. It promotes sustainable agriculture, renewable energy, environmental education, and green entrepreneurship, with a focus on youth and women, to reduce poverty and prevent land degradation in vulnerable areas.
The organization focuses in the areas of; environment conservation through youth led climate action initiatives, sustainable farming and agricultural value chain development for community economic sustainability and promotion of talents among young people. Over the past years, the organization have focused in areas of climate action to combat climate change issues through organizing and promoting tree planting campaigns and exercises and capacity buildings on sustainable farming practices.
