Accredited CSO
The UNCCD COP recognizes that the involvement and participation of the civil society is vital to the successful implementation of this Convention. It therefore welcomes the contribution of CSOs, with particular regard to non-governmental organizations (NGOs), to the official meetings of the UNCCD.
Representatives from CSOs that are accredited to the COP may directly participate in the UNCCD secretariat’s sessions. At these sessions CSOs are consulted on United Nation’s policy and programme matters. They also play key roles at major United Nations conferences as indispensable partners for efforts at the country level. Below are the current accredited CSO's to the Convention.
Thematic by Program Area: Environmental Friendly Community Organization (EFCO) advances sustainable land use, reforestation, and agroforestry to restore degraded ecosystems and protect watersheds. We empower communities through participatory natural resource governance, climate-smart solutions, and awareness on environmental-health-livelihood links. EFCO engages women and youth in climate action, green entrepreneurship, and resilience-building.
The Institute of Himalayan Risk Reduction (IHRR) works to enhance climate resilience and disaster risk reduction through research, capacity building, and community-based interventions.
Asia Green Hut Organization empowers youth and women through climate adaptation programs, resilience-building, and advocacy to combat desertification and soil erosion. AGHO uses awareness campaigns, education, and creative arts to promote sustainable land management and environmental stewardship in Afghanistan.
Women Social & Economic Development Organization (WSEDO) promotes sustainable land management and ecosystem resilience through community-driven initiatives. Grounded in values of inclusion, equality, and empowerment, WSEDO strengthens local capacities via sustainable agriculture, soil improvement, and environmental restoration, while advancing gender equality and poverty reduction in underserved Afghan communities.
Global Alliance for a Healthy Society (GAHSO) empowers adolescent girls, young women, and persons with disabilities through initiatives that advance health equity, climate resilience, and sustainable livelihoods. We address land degradation, promote climate-smart agriculture, and support community-led solutions that foster environmental sustainability and social justice.
PSUS is a non-profit advancing socio-economic justice for marginalized groups in Bangladesh, especially women and children, through sustainable development. Aligned with UNCCD, it combats land degradation via sustainable agriculture, soil protection, climate adaptation, and community resilience. Activities span advocacy, capacity building, health, education, disability inclusion, and gender equality, ensuring environmental sustainability and human rights.
IWDA is a women-led Indigenous organization in Tanzania focused on land rights, sustainable land use, climate resilience, and cultural preservation. We empower Indigenous women and youth through community training, advocacy, and traditional ecological knowledge to combat desertification, promote FPIC, and strengthen local governance of rangelands and natural resources.
Forestry AIM: To plant trees which will benefit communities socially, economically, environmentally, medicinally and aesthetically. ACTIVITIES: Includes, preparation of land, planting maintenance and harvesting of woodlots. Agriculture & Pastoralism AIM: To cultivate food crops for the health and industrial needs of the communities. ACTIVITIES: Preparation of land, planting maize, beans, etc. and harvesting and sales of products. Public Health AIM: Sensitization on child immunization.
Protection and conservation of the environment in response to environmental relating problems including soil degradation, deforestation, loss of biodiversity, air and water pollution and wetland degradation. Archived through community engagements, degraded ecosystems restoration, policy advocacy and capacity building programs.
Founded in 2024 after devastating floods, the Resilient Builders Initiative (RBI) restores lives and land. By planting 300,000 trees, RBI has restored 60,000 hectares in Rwanda, tackling climate impacts through agroforestry. Uniting experts across disciplines, RBI builds resilient communities with nature-based, sustainable solutions for a more equitable and thriving planet. The aims is to restore atleast 3,000,000 trees in next 5 years through TerraFund and other donors in Environment.
