Accredited CSO
The UNCCD COP recognizes that the involvement and participation of the civil society is vital to the successful implementation of this Convention. It therefore welcomes the contribution of CSOs, with particular regard to non-governmental organizations (NGOs), to the official meetings of the UNCCD.
Representatives from CSOs that are accredited to the COP may directly participate in the UNCCD secretariat’s sessions. At these sessions CSOs are consulted on United Nation’s policy and programme matters. They also play key roles at major United Nations conferences as indispensable partners for efforts at the country level. Below are the current accredited CSO's to the Convention.
The Sloth Conservation Foundation promotes the conservation of sloths and their rainforest habitats through reforestation, habitat connectivity, and protection of biodiversity. We engage Indigenous and local communities in sustainable land management, advance environmental education, and restore degraded ecosystems to combat deforestation and land degradation.
The Centre for Integrated Sustainable Livelihood and Governance—Ghana (CISLIG-Ghana) is a non-profit organization that takes a comprehensive and inclusive approach to sustainable development. It focuses on enhancing rural livelihoods, particularly for women and youth, through hands-on farming training, access to information and communication technology (ICT), environmental care, and good governance. Their efforts align with UNCCD goals, such as promoting sustainable land management.
Open Knowledge Development Initiative (OKDI) empowers communities to address desertification, land degradation, and climate change through advocacy, education, and grassroots action. We promote sustainable land management, climate-smart agriculture, water and sanitation, and youth-led capacity building to strengthen resilience, protect ecosystems, and achieve Land Degradation Neutrality in Nigeria.
Since the inception GMSL have been engage both policy advocacy and ground implementation of triple Rio conventions CBD, UNFCC, CCD. we are the main organization prepare the Sri Lankan citizens reports on Rio +10 and Rio + 20 as a network organization we have implemented around 100 projects related to CCD from EU,USAID, NORAD, CIDA, AUSAID, and UNDP/GEF/SGP projects
Holy Homes Africa (HHA) empowers youth in Uganda to lead land restoration, reforestation, and sustainable agriculture initiatives. Through hands-on training, community-led projects, and leadership development, HHA restores degraded land, improves forest cover, and strengthens ecosystem resilience. Guided by our vision of empowered youth and values of inclusion, impact, and accountability, we foster lasting community change.
SEAS is a community-based company working in the Red Sea Governorate, Egypt. Our mission is to promote environmental education, land restoration, and sustainable resource management. We empower local communities, including women and youth, through capacity-building, heritage preservation, and projects addressing desertification, biodiversity, and climate resilience.
SEED empowers climate-vulnerable, underserved communities across India through participatory ecosystem restoration (especially mangroves), climate-smart livelihoods, water resilience, disaster risk reduction and awareness-building rooted in ecosystem-based adaptation.
Wandusoa Organic Cameroon empowers displaced women/youth (70% female) to reverse land degradation in conflict zones. Since 2023, we’ve rehabilitated 50 hectares through: ✓ Regenerative farming training ✓ Women-led agroforestry nurseries ✓ Community compost cooperatives Aiming to scale to 200+ hectares by 2030, we combat desertification while building climate-resilient livelihoods aligned with UNCCD goals."
The ReviVerde Association is a non-profit socio-environmental organization committed to ecological regeneration and climate resilience in Cabo Verde and other African countries. Our main activities include tree planting, land restoration, agroforestry, climate-smart agriculture, creation of community and school green areas, environmental education, and biodiversity conservation to combat desertification and promote sustainable livelihoods.
L'Association Burundaise pour la protection de la Nature (ABN) œuvre pour la gestion durable des terres, la promotion de l’agroécologie et la conservation de la biodiversité afin de lutter contre la dégradation des sols et la désertification. Elle restaure les écosystèmes, renforce la résilience communautaire et la sécurité alimentaire à travers l'aménagement des bassins versants, le reboisement, la conservation des sols, la sensibilisation et l'éducation environnementale.
