Accredited CSO
The UNCCD COP recognizes that the involvement and participation of the civil society is vital to the successful implementation of this Convention. It therefore welcomes the contribution of CSOs, with particular regard to non-governmental organizations (NGOs), to the official meetings of the UNCCD.
Representatives from CSOs that are accredited to the COP may directly participate in the UNCCD secretariat’s sessions. At these sessions CSOs are consulted on United Nation’s policy and programme matters. They also play key roles at major United Nations conferences as indispensable partners for efforts at the country level. Below are the current accredited CSO's to the Convention.
The primary themes are rangeland, water, and land-use management. Our aims are to restore and rehabilitate degraded areas in Ewaso Ng’iro Basin, mainly in community and individual lands, riparian areas and degraded forests. The activities include establishment of semi-circular bunds/halfmoons to reduce soil erosion and promote water percolation; reseeding these bunds with grass to avail fodder for livestock; and tree-growing in degraded forests, rangelands and riparian areas.
The mission of our NGO is working alongside local communities to restore and protect Madagascar’s remaining forests and diverse wildlife. The main program includes the Education promoting Reforestation (EPRP) to rebuild forest and the reforestation for the community to benefit community by planting timber, fruiting and commercial trees closer to the villages to provide additional food and income (like ebony, mango, coffee ans banana
Grupo de Ecología y Conservación de Islas, A.C. works to conserve and promote the sustainable development of Mexico’s islands through a multidisciplinary approach that includes ecological restoration, environmental education, and public policy. Our program applies science-based conservation—removing invasive species, reforesting, managing native species, and strengthening island biosecurity—to ensure lasting benefits.
The Cheetah Conservation Fund (CCF) works to protect cheetahs and their dryland ecosystems. We partner with local communities to promote coexistence, restore habitats, protect livestock, and improve livelihoods. By combining sustainable land use, education, and practical field solutions, CCF helps build climate resilience, strengthen food security, and conserve biodiversity in some of the world’s most vulnerable landscapes.
WART is a women-led national NGO in South Sudan dedicated to gender equality, food security, sustainable land management, and resilience building. Its work focuses on climate-resilient agriculture, land restoration, and GBV prevention. WART empowers vulnerable women, youth, IDPs, and returnees through livelihood support, capacity building, and advocacy, aligning directly with the UNCCD mission of combating desertification and land degradation.
CORENA manages the Boundou Community Nature Reserve and works to preserve ecosystems and ensure the sustainable management of natural resources. Its activities include reforestation, soil restoration, ecological monitoring, environmental education, community awareness-raising, and support for local initiatives promoting sustainable and resilient development. Since 2023, 20 hectares and 5,000 trees have been planted through several reforestation projects.
Un Arbol ONG is a Non-profit founded in 2012 in Argentina, dedicated to Social and Environmental Regeneration. We develop triple-impact projects (social, environmental, economic) through Nature-based Solutions to create and strengthen sustainable, regenerative human systems and landscapes. Our work addresses desertification by restoring soils and native vegetation, improving water management, and supporting resilient rural livelihoods with communities and Indigenous partners.
The Itaembé Foundation leads sustainable development initiatives in Misiones, Argentina. Through environmental education, science, and technology, we promote the conservation of natural resources and the restoration of degraded lands. We focus on projects that improve community well-being and ensure environmental preservation for future generations.
